Reading a Book about Brexit and Ireland at the moment

I wanted to share a few of the things I learned from it that demonstrate just how monumentally inept the UK Giovernment are being in regards the border..
We're all familiar with the prevalence of duck in Chinese and Far East cusines
But did you know 40% of all the duck in London's Chinatown all come from the same supplier?
Is it a duck farmer in Cornwall or maybe they get shipped in from the Far East?

No.
They come from Monaghan.
Silver Hill Foods in Emyvale. If you've ever gotten the bus Dublin to Derry you'll have seen their plants. Their logo is a Duck.

But Silver Hill ahve more than one location, they also have a plant over the border in Aughnacloy in County Tyrone.
The Ducks are kept in Aughnacloy and that is where they lay their eggs. The eggs then go over to Enyvale to be hatched. Then back to Aughnacloy to fed, raisedand prepped fro shipping.
They go over the border and are shipped from Dublin Port.
And finally over the border to England
One Product. Duck Meat.
Goes over the border 4 times during its production.
The book I read mentioned that a possibl tarriff on duck meat could be as high as 50%.

Times four, your business is gone in an instant.
Lets take something else.

Cheddar Cheese.
A British staple. Great British Cheddar.

The majority of the Cheddar cheese eaten in th UK is made in Ireland or is made with Irish Milk.
In fact the UK literally does not produce enough food to feed itself.

Ireland produces masses of food that we export to the UK.
Now they pay for it, instead of just taking it,
Take a UK supermarket sandwhich for example.
A BLT with Mayo.

The Flour for the bread was probbably made in Northern Ireland and then baked in Ireland. The BAcon is probably british. the lettuce and tomato probably came from Europe and the Eggs for the MAyo were probably Irish.
Or Your Protein Powder?

Made from Whey from Irish Milk.
Probably by Glanbia.

British people probably dont even realise just how much irish food they are surrounded by. And how many times that food has crossed borders before it got to them.
So when someone says they want to keep the Border soft. This is why.
Irelands Agrifood Economy and Britains food supply depend on it.

Which is why i cannot stand listening to Brexit fools telling us its simple to fix.

BECAUSE IT ABSOLUTELY ISNT.

END.
