1/ Nothing to see here, Moderna edition: Like the @pfizer vaccine, the @moderna_tx vaccine led to more pregnancy loss in rat studies (the ONLY studies done). Vaccinated rats lost 16% of pregnancies, double those that got the placebo. (pg. 50-51/169)...

2/ As they did with the @pfizer vaccine, the regulators ignored the issue and did not ask for more studies.

But the story gets better!

Moderna NEVER submitted a proper toxicity study on mRNA-1273. It offered only partial data, which the EMA found non-compliant (non-GLP)...
3/ In place of a full study, Moderna offered a bunch of studies from OTHER vaccines it's been working on - for Zika, CMV, etc.

Those studies showed a pattern of problems, including:

"decreased lymphocytes... increase in fibrinogen and activated partial thromboplastin time..."
4/ And

"increased cellularity and mixed cell inflammation in the inguinal, iliac, and popliteal lymph nodes; decreased cellularity in the splenic periartiolar lymphoid sheath;
increased myeloid cellularity in the bone marrow..."
5/ The pattern led the EMA to find these changes were "not product specific" - i.e., related to the viral target of the vaccine - "but rather caused by the immunologic responses towards the translated antigens, and potentially by a contribution of the novel LNP formulation."
6/ BUT NONE OF THIS EVEN LED THE EMA (or the FDA, apparently), to ask for a full toxicity study of mRNA-1273. The regulators just noted everything and moved on.

And the briefing book wasn't released until Jan. 20, a month after Moderna vaccinations began in the US.
