#Thread:
Deconstruction of fake info regarding varnas and caste system:
It seems this "logical Indian" is anything but logical.
Snippet 1: Article claims to talk about caste system but begins with varna system, different as apples from oranges.
Reason:
Varna originates in... https://twitter.com/shariqueOO7/status/1361615088583540737
2/

Vedas, while caste originated in Abrahamic religions.
Let's look at how they originate.
Rig Veda:

3/

-Rigveda 10.191, 3-4
"All people exist with same hearts, common feelings, and have a common assembly".
From Purusha Sukhta:
This is usually quoted to show discrimination. Does it? Let's c.

The claim with above verse seems to be "feet are inferior, hence shudras are lower than Brahmins". Is it, though? Fake.
From the times of Vedic culture, feet have been considered as holy as any other part of the human body.
It is the feet of Sriman Narayana which are showcased
5/

at TTD. Goddess Ganga also originates at the feet of Shri Maha Vishnu, does that mean she is inferior? What logic is this?
Also the writer of this "Logical Indian" hasn't read it completely and IGNORES other verses. This is called "cherry picking" and cannot be allowed.
6/

Here,
Feet
Earth and Direction
Ear

The interpretation of the above verse is that the WHOLE universe is being sustained at the feet of
7/

Shri Maha Vishnu. Let alone this varna or that varna.😂
Purusha in this verse is referring to the "Purusha-Prakriti" duality's nature of our brahmanda ((uni)(multi)-verse).
Also, varnas are volatile.

Varna in Bhagavad Gita:

ब्राह्मणक्षत्रियविशां शूद्राणां च परन्तप |
कर्माणि प्रविभक्तानि स्वभावप्रभवैर्गुणै: ||

-Gita 18.41

"The duties of the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras are distributed according to their guṇas."
9/

Before talking about others, one must understand how birth, death and rebirth and Atman are described in Hinduism.

-Gita 2.20

"The atma is neither born, nor does
10/

it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The atma is without birth, eternal, immortal, and ageless. It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed."

Atma is a Sanskrit non-translatable (no equivalent word in English). Dharma is another.
11/

Another verse from Bhagavad Gita:

चातुर्वर्ण्यं मया सृष्टं गुणकर्मविभागश: |
तस्य कर्तारमपि मां विद्ध्यकर्तारमव्ययम् ||

-Gita 4.13

"The four varnas were created by me according to people’s gunas and karmas(deeds). Although I am the creator of this system, know me to be the
12/

non-doer and eternal."

Now that we have covered varna, let's cover caste.
The etymology of the word "caste" is known at its earliest around 1610, when it was derived from the word "casta" in Portugese, which means "class". That is derived from the Latin word "Castus"
13/

, which means "to separate/cut". Castus was used as a definition of "chaste/chastity", which in Abrahamic religions means something else entirely.
Clearly, not the same as "Varna".
Only an idiot would equate these two. And this is just first two paragraphs of the article.
14/

The term was coined as a way to separate various Christians. Adventists, Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, Church of God, Apostolic, Assyrian, Baptist, Latin Catholic, etc. by the Vatican while spreading their missionaries around.
It is also to be noted that this is not
15/

exclusive to Christianity. Even Islam has castes. This system is called as ‘Biradiri’/ ‘baradari’ system (brotherhood).
The highest in the ladder are called as ‘Ashrafs’. They claim to be direct descendants of rulers from Persia and other regions. The lowest in the ladder
16/

are called as ‘Arzals’ whose ancestors were converts to Islam. Their ancestors were once "kaffir".
Non-Ashrafi Muslims are called as ‘Ajlafs’. Discrimination exists here.
In Xtianity, Protestant -Catholic philosophical conflict and in some cases discrimination is well known
17/

The purpose of this thread is to educate people the difference between varna and caste at a base level and not to demean anyone. Every religion is unique and has its own practices. Cheers.
