Seen a lot of laments for Corbyn lately. Let's be clear upon his leadership's significance.

Corbyn became Labour leader at the height of the anti-austerity movement, when many activist groupings were directly challenging Labour councillors making cuts.
His leadership allowed the Labour Party to soak up a lot of these activists.

One of Corbyn's first actions was to tell Labour councils not to vote against cuts in the name of electability. This was previously a central demand of the anti-austerity movement.
In essence, we were told "wait until I win". The anti-austerity movement pretty much died after this, particularly in terms of grassroots mobilisation.

The "electability" and unity of the Labour Party was placed ahead of the workers.
This isn't a one time thing, but consistent. Labour under Corbyn did not use the whip against the bombing of Syria. It abstained on a clause in the Immigration Act of 2016 which would have given asylum seekers the right to work.
I have no doubt that Corbyn was sincere in what he believed and genuinely thought his tactics and politics were right. They weren't. The consequences were devasting.

Social democracy is and always has been a servant of capital, whether it intends to or not.
The argument that Corbynism "would open up room for the left" was completely untrue. We can see quite the opposite in fact. When social democracy was weak we had an anti-austerity movement. Now it has disappeared, we see that movements are emerging. Social democracy held us back.
It is in no way acceptable for anyone who considers themself a communist to engage in a nostalgic "we had a single chance" narrative now. To do so is to turn one's head to the proletarian forces today emerging, which are orders of significance more important than Corbyn's lobby.
The framing of this I find most onerous is the notion that Corbyn represented the "last chance" of particularly disabled people. If he was such a friend to the cause, why isn't he mobilising his followers all against the eugenics unfolding in care?
